University of Minnesota Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Thursday night.
They say at about 6:30 p.m., a 21-year-old student was approached by two men at the intersection of 7th Street Southeast and 11th Avenue Southeast. One of the men pointed a silver handgun at the victim and ordered him to the ground. The men then took the victim's backpack and ran to the south of 7th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, according to the report.
The area is near Marcy Park in the Dinkytown Neighborhood, off campus. The victim wasn't hurt.
One of the robbers is described as a black man between 20 and 30 years old, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a medium build. They say he wore a baggy black hooded sweatshirt with black baggy jeans and carried the silver handgun in his left hand.
The second robber is described as a black man between 20 and 30 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a medium build and black curly hair. He wore glasses, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
